Ok, so the game starts up OK. But when I get to the point that I'm trying to connect to the server, it freezes up. My comp is pretty old, so I might have a resource problem. Any ideas why I'm having trouble connecting? What's the min specs you should have for Beta? Is it much more demanding than regular DOD:S?

first, what are your specs?

The requirements are probably going to be around what the requirements are for tf2 considering they both use the same engine now. Although after looking at the requirements the minimum is the same as hl2 and css but the recommended requirements are much higher. My pc took a big performance hit when I started playing the beta, so I'm guessing it probably is because you have an older machine. But like wiseboi said, knowing your specs would help a lot.

There are a lot of performance issues with the DOD:S Beta, hence the Beta title ;) I would just hold out for the final release if you're having issues. To be quite honest, there really isn't anything special about the Beta (sadly). Even the "new" map is kinda, meh.

I'm at work now, so I'm not sure what the specs are exactly. It's a pentium 3.4 or something with a stick of 256 MB and a stick of 512 MB ram. I'm thinking it's just a problem with my crappy laptop rather than the internet connection. It works fine on Trappy's PC.

Yes, that too. I've been playing on Trappy's PC lately. I was going to buy a new one with all my hard earned cash, but we're trying to save up for a down payment on a house.

That's cool. House before games :)

Oh and as always, when you wanna play games, it's PC > laptop
