Mag just informed me that the 1.2 patch is finally en route so it's time to give this server another shot. I have a 48 slot server waiting for us. Anyone have any requests on the gametype, mods, etc? I have some in mind but I'd like to get some feedback before I decide on what we should try out. Ideally I expect the COD:WW population to spike quite a bit when the patch hits so I'd like to be ready the day it hits.

Server IP is codww.goblinarmy.com (8.18.92.167)
(note, it's no longer codww1.goblinarmy.com)

Here is the post from the forums:

Hello PC fans,

I am happy to say that we have entered Phase 5 of our PC Patching Process, and are preparing the patch for worldwide distribution!

As such, I wanted to shed some light on precisely what Patch 1.2 has fixed. But first, I’d like to introduce a NEW MAP we’ve included in this patch – Makin Day.
Items addressed in 1.2:
Free Multiplayer Map! The tide is out and the sun is high – this daytime version of Makin sheds new light on the battle!
Fixed exploits that allowed for power ranking servers.
Fixed router related server authentication errors.
Fixed HTTP Redirect functionality for downloading mods
Fixed sound device crashes stemming from Emulated Sound Devices
Fixed exploit which allowed players to color their name tag.
Hits now register properly while targeted player is leaning.
Enabled /cg_drawfps in multiplayer games.
Fixed command-line +connect functionality
/cg_fov no longer resets to the default value in between matches.
Dedicated servers automatically reconnect to the Master Server in case the Master Server resets.
"Accept Game Invite" is bound to its default key, F10.
Implemented fix for attempting to join password protected servers from the server browser.
Fine tuned Bolt-Action Rifles for balance.
Screenshots no longer overwrite each other.
Fixed various multiplayer map related issues and exploits.
We are aware that /record is not on this list, but are happy to say we’ve already begun working on a Patch 1.3 which will address /record. More details on that patch will emerge after the 1.2 release.

So get ready to get your frag on – Patch 1.2 is releasing TOMORROW, Feb. 6th 2009! Mirrors should start being made available in the morning, PST.

Regards,
-JD

TDM for mode? Especially with 48 people. (Although, with the large map sizes, what would 24v24 s&d be like?)

maybe start with s&d to see how it goes

24v24 SnD...hmm that might be interesting. It might be worth a try now that the power ranking is gone. I think why snd server struggled was because of the power ranking servers.

whatever gamemode you choose, it will be interesting to see if people actually come back to the game after the patch.

xfire can do it. and I've been told by several ppl that xfire gives a better reading than any games' own readings.

Yay! I've tried 48 person s&d and the maps are sized for it for sure - what seems to happen tho is 40 ppl die in the first minute and it turns into a golf match - well maybe not that fast paced.... Glad to see a GA server back for WaW.

Dont get too used to the S&D server. The more I think about it, the less I like the idea of it being S&D. More to come later.

Okay,
Hey there fellas Detroiter here. Had a great time on the server today and I plan on playing here more often. Just caught you guys today on refresh and came in and had a great time. I did read some stuff about about what you guys may or may not do to the server in the future. First off so far you are building traffic for S&D. If you change that server I know you will have to rebuild new traffic. Most who play S&D only play S&D. Those who play TDM and so on tend to play TDM - WAR and such.

Bolts seem like maybe they chamber a hair faster now - didnt really notice much difference and I am working my way through the bolts now so I am pretty familiar with the feel. Someone said today they thought the bolts hit harder now but I couldnt say - usualy a 1 hit kind of deal w/ teh bolt. Also I always use xfire fps count - I like having the clock as a sticky too so I know when it gets late :)

happens to me also. i thought it was because i play in window mode. i guess it is cod:ww. no other games do that and i pretty much use window mode on everything

I only get the overlap if WaW crashes while im playing and I have to restart - i finally figured out my case was getting to hot so now a table fan blows on the drive and gcard - otherwise fps and clock stay where stuck.

Sorry for the delayed activity on the CODWW server, the mod I'm waiting on to be completed is still a few weeks away and the update that fixes this update is still a few weeks away as well. Goooo Treyarch! I will keep you guys posted as I receive news as well.

HSMagnet
02-10-2009, 11:01 AM
fixing HTTP redirect had little effect when the DVAR issue caused all of the mods to have to be rewritten or paired down.

but, supposedly 1.3 will be out this month with /record and maybe some added zombie DLC

KocK GoBlin
02-10-2009, 11:19 AM
From what I read on that link you posted, they're not going to expand the number of allowed DVARS so...eek. Hopefully won't be an issue.

PC Patch 1.3 Update - 2/26/09
Posted: 16 hours ago

Hi all,

So our initial goal was to have an update for all platforms today. The Xbox 360 and PS3 had their TU, the Wii got some new gametypes, and the PC was going to receive Patch 1.3. By the way, the 1.3 hit list is:

* /record and /demo enabled in MP.
* Server Log File improvements, including:
o Team Names on Kill loglines.
o Round Win and Loss.
o Timestamps.
o Additional action logging (took flag, destroyed headquarters, planted bomb, etc).
* Improved sound initialization for Vista - fixes loss of sound for audio devices set higher than 16 bit 48000 Hz.
* Screenshots no longer overwrite each other.
* Tweaked autobalance on select game modes.

Unfortunately, QA found an important issue in the eleventh hour of PC 1.3 testing, which we must tend to before we can release it. Thus, the release could not happen today.

It is important to note that our development process on these updates is parallel - that is - all teams are dedicated. So the console TU's releasing today does not reflect a prioritization of one sku over the other - both teams work completely independent of each other, and this time it happens to be the PC that has had an unexpected bug pop up last-minute.

That said, the PC team is working fervently to get the PC Patch 1.3 out the door as quickly as possible, without sacrificing quality.

We appreciate the patience and your continued feedback on 1.2. I'll keep you updated to the 1.3 progress as we learn more.

Regards,
-JD

I want to see how the patch pans out when it's released. I'd like to be able to put up another COD:WW server but I have a feeling that Treyarch's scared away most of the community by now. We shall see.

people running modded servers are having all kinds of problems that are not even mentioned in jd_2020 post

which potentially nerfs competition, not that leagues, etc. are going to look at it this late
